Urgent Action Needed

Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs

Urgent Action Needed

Despite approximately 1,200 sportspeople who took time out of their lives to come to the statehouse on January 30th, everything has changed since the horrific event at Parkland Florida and the events in Vermont that followed.   At a Press Conference this morning, Attorney General Donovan, Speaker Johnson, Senate Pro Tempore Ashe and Lt Governor Zuckerman all announced that S.221, H.422 and even S.6 would be voted on by the Senate as early as next week.  Other bills that aren't even active are also being openly discussed, such as an Assault Weapons Ban and a High Capacity Magazine Ban.  Vermont could, quite literally, become worse than New York in one fell swoop.

Our first line of attack to stop this avalanche is to have each of us contact our respective senators.  Please do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1.     Using the list that follows locate your county, and then make note of your senator(s) names if you are not already familiar with them.

2.     Call the Sargent-At-Arms at (802) 828-2228

a.     Politely ask to leave a message for your senator(s)

b.     Give your name and town of residence

c.      Indicate your message is urgent, and ask that the Senator(s) call you concerning the planned attack on your gun rights, and then give your phone number.

3.      If you don't hear back or are seeing this on the weekend, please consider calling your Senator at home using the list that follows.  Please note that the numbers provided are published on the Legislative website so these are public, if there is no number than they have an un-listed number.

4.     Again using the list which follows, email your Senator(s) and tell them that you strongly oppose S.6, and ask them for a more deliberative process for H.422.

This is Extremely Urgent!!!!

Thank you! But more action is needed!

Thank-You Vermont Sportsmen & Sportswomen!

On behalf of the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, it's member clubs and our allied organizations, I want to thank the sportswomen and sportsmen who AGAIN turned out in force to stand in solidarity and to speak out against gun laws that are un-needed in Vermont.

Estimates vary as to just how many Vermonters gave up their time and money to travel to Montpelier, but by our estimate we had approximately 1,200+ people there to state that should be No New Gun Control Laws In Vermont, which gave us better than a 10:1 advantage in turnout.  We flooded the statehouse with Orange, and we are truly a force to be reckoned with.  In point of fact, "they" ran out of speakers who had signed up to give testimony, while some of our people who signed up couldn't speak because the hearing ended at 7:30.

There are two more things we need you all to do however, please send an email with your thoughts/testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee at the address below, and please also consider contacting your own senator(s) and representatives by calling the Sargent-At-Arms.  Both are critically important and are easy to do.

Yours in Freedom and Liberty;

The Officers and Directors of the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs

IMPORTANT:  EMAIL SENATE JUDICIARY

SEND EMAIL TO:             testimony@leg.state.vt.us

SUBJECT:             VERMONT FIREARM LAWS - NO NEW GUN CONTROL

MESSAGE:             When Vermont is consistently one of the safest states in the nation in regards to violent

crime, the legislature is wasting valuable time attempting to find a solution to a problem that does not exist here in Vermont.  Our existing laws work - No New Gun Control Laws

Talking Points for your email

·         2nd Safest State in the Nation for Violent Crime for 2016

·         Safest State in the Nation for Violent Crime for 2013-2015

·         Not a major source of guns for MA, NY or New England; VT is the 3rd Lowest source in US

·         High rate of Firearms in Households; 2nd Lowest Murder by Firearm in the US

·         Criminals will always try to evade any and all laws

·         Passing unenforceable and ineffective laws that can only negatively affect law-abiding citizens is ridiculous, and is a solution in search of a problem

ALSO:  Call The Sargent-At-Arms at (802)-828-2228

Use the following Link to find out who your Senators and Representative are:

https://legislature.vermont.gov/people/search/2018

Armed with the names of your Senator(s) and Representatives, call the Sargent-At-Arms and ask that they relay a simple message to each of them:  "No New Gun Control Laws In Vermont".
