Federation Award to Vermont Game Warden of the Year Senior Warden Rich Watkin, Ph.d





A framed commemorative hunting postcard set as awarded to Vermont Game Warden of the Year, Senior Warden Rich Watkin, Ph.D., of Wilmington, is presented the Federation Annual Award to the Game Warden of the Year by Chris Bradley, President of the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Club.  In the background is Commissioner Louis Porter and Major George Scribner.   The frame set is a commemorative set of stamps and U.S. Postal Service, Special Cancellation of Vermont Hunter Appreciation Day, September 23, 2005.

The award presentation took place at the Federation's Annual Meeting at the Barre F&G Club on Sunday, July 9.  An image of the award is an attachment to this E-mail.

The award is set is a special framed set of hunting commemorative postmarked stamps.  The postcards bear the logo of the NRA-ILA and NSSF and display a special 
postmark is on a stamp of a wild turkey, a white-tail deer and a black bear.  The commemorative postmark, an image of two wild turkeys and a buck, was created by 
a Vermont postmaster, approved by the U.S.Postal Service, placed on the postage stamps, all in recognition of Vermont Hunter Appreciation Day. September 23, 2005.    

Vermont Hunter Appreciation Day was established by a Joint Resolution by the Vermont Legislature and signed into law by Governor James Douglas.

Gov. Douglas was presented with an identical framed stamp set at the Vermont Hunter Appreciation Day ceremony in the state house on September 23, 2005.
