Want to contact Rutland Mayor on "Duty to Flee" legal standard?

Would you like to inquire with the Mayor of the City of Rutland about the
"Duty To Flee" legal standard cited by Rutland City Police Sgt. John Sly?
In the last sentence of the article by Brent Curtis that was on page A5 of
the Saturday, June 28 issue of The Times Argus it was reported in the
closing segment of the article:
Rutland Police Sgt. John Sly said the policy adopted by Mac's and many other stores
was designed to enhance employee protections, not thwart them.

"If the clerks are carrying (guns), the suspects will begin carrying, and you'd have
running gun battles in stores...," he said.

"The clerks are well within their rights to carry (a gun), and everyone always has a
right to protection their life or that of another," Sly said.

"But the courts have ruled that a person's first option must be to flee and not to take
a stand and engage in the use of deadly force except as a last resort," he added.

six Friends of NRA banquets.  The grant was administered by the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Club.

NRA Day – The North Country Sportsman's Club is hosting a series of NRA Day events this year, holding new shooter shotgun clinics from 12:45pm to 3:00pm the first Sunday of each month from May through September, plus other sessions if requested.   During May and June, nearly 20 people have taken the training, with good interest already indicated for July.   The three remaining sessions will be held on July 6th, August 10th, and September 7th.  (The August session is the second Sunday as the State Sporting Clays Championship is on August 2 and 3)

Women on Target – The North Country Sportsman's Club is hosting a series of three Women on Target shotgun training events in June, July, and August.

Saturday June 28th, 8:30 – 12:00
Sunday July 13th, 12:30 – 4:00
Saturday, August 23rd, 8:30 – 12:00

The program of instruction includes gun safety, gun basics, and an introduction to the game of Trap Shooting.  There will be classroom instruction and range instruction with clay targets. Ammunition, equipment, light breakfast, or lunch is being provided.  There are still seats available for all three dates, however July 13th is nearly full at this time.  To ensure adequate personal attention to each participant, each session is being limited to 20 students.

The cost of the NRA Day events is $20 per person.  The cost of the Women on Target event is $40 per person.   The instructor for all of these events will be Tom Blair, an NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor and Range Officer.  He will be assisted by other experienced shooters or instructors as necessary.  Information for both programs is on the NCSC website,  www.shootncsc.com, or contact Tom Blair at the below email address, or one of the listed phone numbers (cell preferred).

WCAX: Report: Vermont not a major source of guns

The 2011 and 2012 ATF reports also showed Vermont is NOT a major source of guns.
Those who inaccurately claim Vermont is a major source of guns defame this our state.

BOSTON -
A new report shows Vermont was not a major source of guns used in crimes in other states last year.
Political leaders in northeast states have raised concerns that Vermont's lax gun laws have fueled a guns-for-drugs trade that is putting more guns in the hands of criminals in cities like Boston and New York.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives traces guns seized from criminals and in 2013 there were 1,571 guns recovered in Massachusetts. Of those guns, 29 came from Vermont-- far fewer than other states. Massachusetts was the largest single source of guns recovered there with 431. Another 121 guns came from New Hampshire and 91 came from Maine.
The report also shows that of the 8,500 guns recovered in New York, only 61 came from Vermont.

NRA Women On Target (handgun) events in June and July at the Barre F&G Club

The Barre F&G Club is conducting two NRA Women On Target (handgun) events.
The attachment to this E-mail provides detailed information about events.  The

These two NRA WOT events are a continuation of the Barre F&G Club's very
successful and popular NRA WOT events.  These are excellent opportunities
for women who want to receive excellent training by experienced instructors in
a good classroom and on a good range.  One event is in June and other in July.

These two NRA Women On Target events are funded by a grant from the profits
of Vermont's six Friends of NRA banquets and the grants are administered by
